Redesigning the Employer Onboarding Flow for TalentConnect

This project redesigned the employer onboarding flow for TalentConnect, a staffing agency in India, aiming to reduce high dropout rates by creating a more user-friendly experience. The impact on the company included increased completion rates for employer profiles, improved employer satisfaction, and better quality job postings.
OVERVIEW
The project was completed in June 2024.
This case study will discuss the problem, constraints, design process, solutions, and the impact of the redesigned onboarding process.
The problem
What’s the problem?
- Employer feedback indicated the onboarding process was too lengthy and complex, causing high dropout rates.
- The cumbersome process discouraged employers from completing their profiles, affecting the quality of job postings.
- Employers looking to post job opportunities and find suitable candidates on TalentConnect.
- Addressing this issue was crucial to retain employers and ensure high-quality job postings and recommendations.
Constraints
Everybody deals with constraints
- Tight Deadline: The entire redesign had to be completed within 5 weeks, which limited the scope for extensive research and testing.
- Complex Requirements: Balancing the need for comprehensive employer information with the desire to streamline the process.
- User Resistance: Overcoming potential resistance from users who are accustomed to the old, albeit cumbersome, system.
- Resource Constraints: Limited access to resources such as additional design and development support.
- Technical Limitations: Ensuring the new design could be integrated seamlessly with the existing platform's infrastructure.
- Risk of Incompletion: The main risk was not fully meeting all employer needs due to the compressed timeline and the need to prioritize essential features.
What outcomes do we want to see?
Here’s the predicted outcome we’re designing for —
- Completion Behavior: Encourage employers to complete their profiles fully.
- Engagement Behavior: Increase engagement by simplifying the onboarding and job posting process.
Design studio outcomes
We’re looking around these themes

- Simplicity and Efficiency: A more straightforward process is expected to keep employers engaged and encourage completion.
- Progressive Disclosure: Providing an option to complete additional details later reduces initial complexity.
- Visual Engagement: Using visual elements like progress bars and highlighted recommendations enhances user experience.
Process
here’s how it’s done

Research identified pain points. Content was prioritized. A streamlined flow was designed and prototyped. Final design skipped user testing due to time constraints. The goal was to simplify onboarding.
